For every hazard identified an action plan must be developed and tracked until the hazard is eliminated or adequately controlled. The actions arising from the risk assessment should be recorded on the action plan.
Why having a safety action plan is important
Benefits of the safety action plan include:
- providing a history of action and control measures for hazards and serving as a record for your business’ commitment to safety;
- allowing the business and their workers to monitor the hazards and their control measures;
- prioritising the amount of time you spend on each hazard in accordance with their risk ratings; and
- ensure a person is responsible for each task or action item will assist in following through the action items.
