National Safe Work Month is held annually in October to encourage employers and workers to promote positive work health and safety in the workplace and to raise awareness about topical issues.
Western Australia adopts its own theme for Safe Work Month, reflecting the health and safety priorities and matters of interest for the State. The 2024 theme was ‘Health and safety is everybody’s business’.
We hosted two hybrid forums in 2024, combining in-person and online attendance options. The themes of musculoskeletal disorders and agricultural safety were selected in alignment with WorkSafe priority focus areas. The events were:
- EveryBODY matters – musculoskeletal forum on Tuesday 15 October at Optus Stadium in Perth
- Farm safety matters – agricultural safety forum, Friday 25 October at Mantra Bunbury.
The month culminated with the Work Health and Safety Excellence Awards on Thursday 31 October at Optus Stadium, celebrating achievements in workplace health and safety in WA.
