To exercise all their powers and perform all their function, a health and safety representative (HSR) and their deputies are required to attend a five-day initial training course approved by the Work Health and Safety Commission.
A person conducting a business or undertaking (PCBU) must allow their HSRs and Deputy HSRs to attend this course. The PCBU must also pay their course fee, other reasonable costs and the HSR's usual rate pay while they attend the course.
Accredited training providers
Only the Work Health and Safety Commission can approve training providers to deliver courses for HSRs.
You can choose from the list of accredited training providers on the HSR Matters hub.
