This code of practice has been produced to assist those storing or handling solid ammonium nitrate (AN) to meet their safety obligations under the Dangerous Goods Safety Act 2004 (the Act) and associated regulations.
The code provides practical guidance on managing many of the risks associated with AN. It describes the preferred safe work practices that can be readily used at places such as ports, merchant stores, mine sites, manufacturers’ facilities and the parking of vehicles loaded with AN on private property.
