Safe Work Month

Last updated: 26 November 2024

During October each year, we ask organisations and workers to join us in raising workplace health and safety awareness for National Safe Work Month.

The theme for this year is Health and safety is everybody's business.

Workplace safety involves getting everyone in the organisation to see the benefit of making good, informed decisions and in becoming more willing to look out for their fellow workers. It’s less about enforcement and more about engagement. Our goal is to attempt to change an organisation’s culture with safety being the front of mind.

We offered two in-person forums this year, each with the option to join online, featuring expert industry speakers who shared ideas and practical approaches across important topics in alignment with WorkSafe priorities.

EveryBODY matters: Musculoskeletal disorder forum

Held on Tuesday, 15 October in Perth this forum brought together a range of cross-industry experts to discuss topics around MSD including psychosocial factors, risk assessment, manual task management, technology, personal impacts, and the treatment journey.

Farm safety matters: Agricultural safety forum

Held on Friday, 25 October in Bunbury agriculture sector experts and WorkSafe agricultural safety inspectors joined to discuss key topics and provide ideas and practical approaches for establishing good safety practices on farms.

Recordings and presentations from the 2024 Safe Work Month events will be available soon on WorkSafe’s SafetyLine Hub. Subscribe to our news alert service to keep up to date with our latest news and announcements.
