WorkSafe SmartMove

An online educational program developed for senior high students, young workers entering the workforce on work placement, work experience, or school-based trainee/apprenticeships or new workers. It is also suitable for young people starting casual, part-time or seasonal jobs.

SmartMove features an animated character called SAMM (Spot the hazard, Assess the risk, Make the changes, and Monitor and follow up) who guides young people through the SmartMove Certificate program.

The program offers general and industry-specific modules, each with interactive sections that uses graphic animations and gaming activities to engage users, and quizzes at the end of a section.

WorkSafe fatigue management training for commercial vehicle drivers and administrators 

The fatigue management training for commercial vehicle drivers and administrators is a free to use resource designed to help drivers and manager/supervisors understand the impact of fatigue and the strategies to prevent fatigue from driving commercial vehicles.

Drivers

A commercial driver is a person who drives a commercial vehicle and whose working hours fit into one of the following categories:

  • work time is more than 60 hours per week
  • for more then once per week, work time is more than 10 hours out of any 24 hour period
  • more than once per week, work time includes the period from midnight to 5 am.

The purpose of this training is to ensure that you follow the regulations for driving commercial vehicles. Upon successful completion of relevant quizzes in this course, an online certificate of completion will be issued, which you can download, print and present to your employer.

Administrators

The training package for administrators involve the skills and knowledge required to administer the implementation of fatigue management strategies in an organisation. The course for administrators and managers consists of the following fatigue management strategies:

  • developing a driver fatigue management plan
  • implementing a driver fatigue management plan
  • understanding fatigue management policies, and
  • required skills and knowledge in applying the principles of fatigue management.

This package explains the impact of fatigue on commercial vehicle drivers and other road users and provide assistance to the responsible person at the workplace to develop a driver fatigue management plan, as required by Work Health and Safety Regulation (184F).

Note: The general duties of a responsible person include ensuring that workers and contractors who drive commercial vehicles have adequate information, instruction, training and supervision, in order that they can work in a safe manner.
